Reveal answer & explanation
Correct answer: D) 20 km
Explanation
Taking the start as origin, X is at (12, 5) and Y at (−4, −7). Horizontal gap = 12 − (−4) = 16 km, vertical gap = 5 − (−7) = 12 km. Distance = √(16² + 12²) = √400 = 20 km. 13 km is only Car X's distance from the start.
